Hamble Club have edged closer to the Hampshire Premier League Senior title with a 7-3 victory at fifth-placed Liphook United.

Scott Marchant’s side are now just five points off leaders Baffins Milton Rovers with six games in hand, but face a tough game against AFC Stoneham tonight at Pirelli Sports Ground.

Hamble, who have been beaten just twice in 26 games, closed the gap with an imperious display at Liphook.

James Thomson and Ricky Bull plundered a brace each while Dan Cox, Dean Little and Dean Byrne netted a goal apiece.

Ed Cardona’s double and Ryan Covey’s strike responded for the home side.

Baffins, meanwhile, will be hoping that Hamble can slip-up and gift them the championship.

The Portsmouth side, who have applied for promotion to the Sydenhams Wessex League, ran-out 1-0 winners at Hedge End Rangers to cling onto their title hopes through Dean Harris’s 58th minute effort.

Fellow promotion chargers AFC Stoneham compounded their fourth spot with a 3-0 win at mid-table Headley United.

John Cole was twice on target and Ollie Forbes made it three to give Adam Pullinger’s side a seven point buffer on fifth place.

Stoneham will look to further strengthen their position tonight when they face leaders Hamble (6.30pm).

Otterbourne continued their fine run of form with a 4-1 victory over Overton United.

Otters are now third after Tom Sands’ brace and goals from Tommy Wright and Tom Richards defeated Overton. Mike Permberton replied.

Richard Luffman's side welcome Hedge End Rangers tonight as they look to continue their great run.

Meanwhile, Winchester Castle pulled themselves level on points with Bush Hill in a battle between sixth and seventh.

Stuart Findlay’s penalty gave Castle the lead on the stroke of half-time before Ali Baddock doubled their lead on 52 minutes.

Tom Mason and Terry Parker netted a goal each to level the game, but Dave Egerton popped-up with an 86th minute winner.

Strugglers Colden Common slipped to their third 4-1 defeat in row against Clanfield. Elliot Sills struck a hat-trick for Clanfield before Sam Knight got the fourth late on.

Oli Dobson struck the consolation goal.

Elsewhere, Paulsgrove defeated Fleetlands 2-0 through Tony Bichard and Aaron Cobb’s goals.

And Josh Garvey netted the only goal as Liss Athletic defeated Stockbridge 1-0.
