Experienced defender Chris Todd has accepted the position of assistant manager at Eastleigh for the upcoming National League (Conference) season.

Todd was offered the role after last term's assistant Craig McAllister was released by the Spitfires, and has now taken the job.

The 33-year-old, who is in the twilight of his playing career, made just ten appearances for Eastleigh in their first season in the Vanarama Conference as player-coach.

He spent much of the season joining manager Richard Hill on the touchline, and has now been given the opportunity to be his number two.

Having originally joined the club in January 2013 from Forest Green Rovers, Todd has been a big part in Eastleigh's rise to the Conference and will be able to call upon a vast amount of knowledge in his new role.
