JAMES Vince believes England’s attacking mindset will suit him if he makes his T20 international debut this evening.

Hampshire’s T20 captain has been as encouraged as every other England supporter by the high-scoring one-day international series success against New Zealand.

“I think the way they are playing suits my game,” said Vince, ahead of the last game of New Zealand’s tour (6.30pm).

“It’s been a good series to watch, I think they have all got the freedom to go and express themselves. In the past, watching England has not always been the most exciting thing.

“But to beat the team who were runners-up in the World Cup was a great effort. England were a little bit tentative [at the World Cup].

“Now, if they play well, they are going to win the game and it’s much better to watch. It’s great that a young group of lads have been given the freedom to play that way. I’m sure it’s enjoyable to be around that group.”

Vince is hoping for his first chance to bat in an England shirt after his ODI debut in Ireland last month was abandoned because of rain.

“I’m not sure if they will change anything from the way the one-day squad have been playing but if they want to have a look at me, then I might get a go,”continued Vince.

“It would have been nice to get an opportunity to bat in Ireland but the weather denied that. We knew the forecast wasn’t great and there were showers around so once we bowled first and it started drizzling, we knew that would probably be it.

“It was a bit of a downer on the day but I was presented with my cap and that was a proud moment.”
