HAMPSHIRE captain James Vince says he does not care who or where his side plays in the T20 quarter-finals.

There is an extremely small chance of Hampshire being knocked out of the last eight when the final round of games is played tonight, but it would require Glamorgan to win by a record- breaking margin against Gloucestershire.

Hampshire currently occupy second place, which would secure a home quarter-final, but they will finish third or fourth if Essex beat leaders Kent and/or Sussex beat Surrey.

Widespread rain is forecast all day but a spate of abandonments would see Hampshire finish third so the likelihood is their quarter-final will be away to Warwickshire or Worcestershire.

But Vince has no preference. “We’re just glad to be in the quarter-finals again!” he said.”It was such a tight group, the most even we’ve had. We’ve had to play really well to get this far.”

Even a Somerset side with no hope of qualifying gave Hampshire a major scare.

“I thought we were under par at halfway on a pretty good pitch, so for the lads to come out and defend that total with the ball and in the field was outstanding,” said Vince.

“The only good thing was that Somerset weren’t playing for anything but when you’re out there and playing they aren’t going to think about that. They still want to win the game.

“Yasir got us over the line in Hove and the same again tonight.

“Its nice to have two overs at the end knowing that the batter has to bat really well to score off him.

“He was outstanding so were the spinners Briggsy and Smudger (Will Smith) and Mason bowled well and was unlucky not to take a few wickets.”

Somerset captain Jim Allenby said: “It was a good opportunity to try out some new players.[Adam Hose] did well on debut. I only met him yesterday but he seems a good character.”
