SHOLING goalkeeping has reached the end of an era.
After eight seasons with the Boatmen, long-serving stopper Lee Webber is hanging up his gloves.
Webber joined the club in 2008/09 from Fareham Town where he made a colossal 442 appearances.
That staying power held strong with the Portsmouth Road outfit for whom he played 155 first-team games and, as a coach, helped develop such talent as Scott O’Rourke, Alex Dunning, Matt Brown, Matt Renouf, Ryan Gosney and Jordan Brooks.
Now, at 38 and with a young daughter growing up fast, the popular 'keeper wants to spend more family time and follow her gymnastics career.
“I’ve a lot of time for all the people dedicated to Sholing FC, with so many good people behind the scenes as well as the tremendous support of the Sholing Ultras that lift the boys home and away, week in week out,” said Webber.
“I will be looking in on games when time permits, but I feel the time is right for me now to complete my football journey and give some precious time back to my family who have supported me.”
