SOUTHAMPTON'S Robbie Nitro is putting on a heavyweight wrestling show and hopes the big hitters can deliver a hefty cash sum for charity.

The 34-year-old is hosting his second Charity Wrestling Promotion (CWP) event on Saturday, August 6 at the Empire Hall, Totton, with all money raised going to the Hampshire Air Ambulance.

The CWP owner, who works as a security guard in Southampton, admitted he loves putting on great shows for great causes, writes Scott Phillips.

He said: “I don’t need the money, I can give something back and I can make a difference.

“I like to help different charities, so I change who I am raising the money for on each show."

Nitro has been wrestling for almost 15 years and once fractured his sternum while performing.

“It was scary as punters thought it was part of the show," he recalled.

Nitro's all-time wrestling idol is Jake the Snake Roberts and he loved the day he got to meet his hero.

There will be at least five big matches in the Totton show and the event will generate their first ever champion.

“I have paid for a championship belt myself to crown our first champion," said Nitro.

“My ambition is to give something big and new on every show, which you don’t get anymore from other shows.

Nitro was also very exited to confirm that former Total Non-Stop Action (TNA) wrestling star Doug Williams will also be performing on the show.

He said: “It is great to have Doug at the event. TNA is the second biggest wrestling organisation in the world. He is the best wrestler to ever come out of the UK and he even trained me for a while."

Doors open at the Empire Hall at 6.30pm and the show begins at 7pm.  Admission is £8 adults, £6 children.
