WINCHESTER City and Salisbury both tasted defeat on the road in the Southern One South & West last night .
Winchester went down 2-1 at Shortwood United, despite getting off to a perfect start when Andy Jenkinson fired them into a second-minute lead following a short corner routine with Joe Briggs.
Howard Neighbour might have built on that lead before the break, but Shortwood hit back at the double through Liam Meredith and Adam Price in the 54th and 77th minutes.
Salisbury also seized an early lead at North Leigh where on-loan Sutton striker Tommy Wright struck inside four minutes.
The Millers – sunk 6-0 at Eastleigh in the FA Cup on Saturday – responded with two George Seacole goals before Wright scored again for 2-2.
Seacole had the last word, completing his hat-trick on 75 minutes for a 3-2 North Leigh victory. It was travel-sick Salisbury’s fifth defeat in six away league games.
Wimborne Town drew first blood through Toby Holmes at home to Swindon Supermarine, but the Matty Holmes's Magpies were soundly beaten 5-1 at Cuthbury.
