IT was a joyless Tuesday evening for AFC Totton – in more ways than one.

Exiting the Russell Cotes Cup 4-1 at two-leagues-lower Hamble Club was bad enough.

But the Stags simultaneously crashed to the foot of the Southern One South & West table on goal difference when fellow strugglers Bridgwater Town unexpectedly beat Tiverton 1-0.

Goals by Dougie Rowe (2), Coby Wilson and Liam Crook sent Sydenhams Wessex One leaders Hamble sailing into the RCC second round.

Also through in the RCC are Sholing, who saw off New Milton 3-0 courtesy of Dan Mason (2) and sub Nick Yeomans, while Moneyfields beat Lymington Town 7-6 on penalties following a 3-3 Dover Road draw.

AFC Stoneham (Ollie Forbes, Andrew Turner) also progressed on penalties, 5-4, after being held 2-2 by QK Southampton, while Romsey Town eclipsed Folland Sports 4-0 through Will Harris (2), Jake Swift and Dan Fox.

There were goals galore in the Sydenhams League Cup where Bashley ousted Fawley 3-0 through Shane Sheridan, Hugh Dathan and Harvey Slade, Baffins Milton Rovers bulldozed Alton 9-0 and Downton prevailed 5-1 over Bournemouth Poppies - Dan Telfer (2), Declan McGregor, Craig Tyson and own goal taking the Robins through.

Tuesday’s lone Sydenhams Premier fixture saw AFC Portchester beat Hamworthy 4-1 through Steve Ramsey (2), Anthony Easter and fit-again sub Alex Baldacchino.
