BARNSTAPLE Town felt the backlash as Salisbury eased the pain of two away defeats with a 5-0 romp at the Ray Mac.
Tommy Wright’s 23rd-minute penalty, awarded for handball by defender James Mayne, separated the sides at half-time.
Salisbury doubled that lead soon after the break as ex-Watford Academy man Mahlondo Martin, signed from Kings Langley, crossed for Kane O’Keefe to head in.
Two Justin Bennett goals – his eighth and ninth in the league this season – made it 4-0 after 79 minutes before Lewis Benson capped an industrious afternoon’s work with a fine solo run and curling shot from the edge of the area.
Steve Claridge’s Whites, ninth in the Southern One South & West, visit Paulton Rovers tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.30pm).
Wimborne, up to seventh, triumphed 1-0 at lowly Wantage Town thanks to Stefan Penny's 30-yard free-kick.
