THERE will be no FA Vase magic for 2014 Wembley winners Sholing this season.

For the second year running, the Boatmen have been dumped out of the competition by Buckland Athletic.

The Bucks eliminated Sholing at the second round stage last term with a 2-1 extra-time victory at Homers Heath.

And the Toolstation Western Premier outfit again got the upper hand at the Universal Stadium on Saturday, this time with a comprehensive 3-0 first round win.

To make a disappointing day worse still for Sholing, they had skipper Byron Mason shown red in the closing stages following two bookings for dissent in the space of 30 seconds.

By then the Boatmen were well beaten as goals by Charlie Johnson, Richard Groves and Marc Revell sent Buckland through to the next round.

Sholing felt they were denied a clear penalty in the first half and also had a Kev Brewster effort headed off the line.

They huffed and puffed after the break trying to wipe out Johnson’s first-half opener for Buckland but, after Dan Mason had had a shot well saved on 81 minutes, succumbed to two late goals.

It was the end of the FA Vase road too for AFC Stoneham, beaten 3-1 at home by Sydenhams One rivals Shaftesbury, and Amesbury Town who lost 1-0 to Brimscombe & Thrupp at Bonnymead Park.

Bournemouth Poppies exited 3-0 at home to Melksham, Alton Town succumbed 2-0 to Corinthian and Horndean lost 3-2 at Horsham YMCA.
