SALISBURY will welcome a familiar face back to the Ray Mac on Saturday when Chippenham Town come calling in the Buildbase FA Trophy.

The Bluebirds arrive in a rich vein of form in the Southern Premier Division.

They currently sit third having won five of their last six league matches, including Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over Basingstoke Town.

Central to Chippenham's success is their 33-year-old top scorer Andy Sandell, who used to play for the old Salisbury City club.

Having initially joined the Whites on a month’s from Bristol Rovers in August 2007, the move was made permanent and he went on to make 49 appearances, scoring eight times, before leaving for Aldershot Town in 2009.

“I’m very excited to be coming back,” said Sandell ahead of Saturday's first qualifying round tie.

“The fans were brilliant and I always had time after a game to sit and have a drink with them.

“The fans deserve the club to be a lot higher and, fingers crossed, they will get back into the Conference soon.”

Despite their woeful away form in the Southern One South & West, Salisbury have been solid at the Ray Mac, winning nine out of 11 games on home soil in all competitions.

They have already caught the eye in the Trophy, pulling off a shock 4-3 win over S&W leaders Hereford.

Salisbury’s loanee attacker Olly Mehew has been recalled by his parent club Forest Green Rovers.
