AFC Totton crashed to a fourth defeat in five games at home to Swindon Supermarine – despite scoring their first goal under new manager Louis Langdown.

Mike Gosney scored the Stags’ first goal in 450 minutes in injury time, but by that stage Langdown’s team trailed to early goals from Joe Selman and Joe Shepherd.

Selman gave the visitors the lead, following a cross from the left, after only two minutes.

And with 19 on the clock Shepherd doubled the advantage when he finished a good move with a low shot at the near post.

That was despite a lively performance from Gosney, who had flashed a cross across goal before Supermarine’s second.

With the Stags 2-0 down he burst through the visitors’ defence before shooting wide and then played in Nick Watts, whose left-footed shot hit a post before Dan Munday did the same with the rebound.

Midfielder Marley Ridge, having joined on loan from Havant & Waterlooville, made his long-awaited debut at the start of the second half when he came on for Ben Cooper.

He was flagged offside in a promising position before scuffing an effort straight at the goalkeeper.

Nathaniel Sherborne returned from injury as a sub for Munday but Totton had to settle for Gosney’s consolation.

Langdown’s fourth game in charge was one of only three of the division’s scheduled nine games to survive the cold weather.

Four of the Stags’ next five games are also at home - starting with the visit of Wantage Town on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Winchester City’s Evostik Southern League derby against Salisbury was one of five matches to fall victim to the cold weather last night.

‘The Cathedral Derby’ was postponed an hour and a half before kick off because of a frozen pitch at Salisbury’s Raymond McEnhill Stadium.

The following matches were also postponed: Bridgwater Town v Larkhall Athletic, Didcot Town v Evesham, Mangotsfield United v Hereford and Shortwood United v Yate Town.

City are away to Barnstaple Town, who lost 1-0 at home to Taunton Town, on Saturday.

Salisbury have a big game away to league leaders Hereford.
