Winchester City are aiming for their second cup win of the season at Fleet Town - and a second away win in four days.

City returned to winning ways, 3-1 at Barnstaple on Saturday, after goals for Stuart Green, Craig Feeney and Howard Neighbour.

Now they are preparing to take on Fleet in the Hampshire Senior Cup little more than five weeks after winning 2-1 at Calthorpe Park in the first qualifying round of the FA Trophy at the end of October.

Manager Ian Saunders, a former Fleet player, said: “I played there in the early 2000s and know their gaffer quite well and a few other people at the club from my time there.

“We deserved to beat them in the FA Trophy and I’m sure they’ll be looking for revenge.”

City lost last season’s HSC final to Havant & Waterlooville on penalties at St Mary’s and should be at full strength tonight.

“We need as many league points as we can to get near the play offs but we’d like to give the Hampshire Senior Cup another good go and will play our strongest side.

“A good cup run gives you something to play for if things are not going so well in the league but we were very pleased with Saturday’s win.

“It was a really good first half including a blistering 15-minute spell in which we got the three goals.

“The second half was not so good, they threw caution to the wind and we were playing against the wind which made it difficult.

“But it was the first time in six weeks we’ve come through a game injury-free.

"Matty Evans and Jay Silver have an army game on Monday night so hopefully they come through that ok.”
