THERE is no sign of the curse of the Sydenhams Premier club-of-the-month award unsettling Alresford Town.
December’s winners stretched their unbeaten league sequence to 11 games – eight wins and three draws – on Saturday with a 4-2 home triumph over Brockenhurst.
Richard Luffman’s upwardly mobile side sit eighth in the table, two points behind Brock with four games in hand.
Intriguingly Alresford’s next two league fixtures are home games against third-placed Portland United this Saturday followed by leaders Moneyfields on January 28.
It was Brock’s Mitch Speechley-Price who opened the scoring on Saturday, but lethal finishing from Sam Burt, Chris Mason and Steve Hall gave the Magpies the upper hand 3-1 with the help of some superb goalkeeping from Dan Kempson.
Speechley-Price struck again with a header from a corner before Town's Tom Sands netted a screamer from the edge of the box.
Brockenhurst boss Pat McManus tweeted: “Disappointing loss today...Outstanding display by the @AlresfordTown GK. Good luck to them and @SaintsLuffers for the rest of the season.”
Alresford tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.45pm) turn their attentions to a North Hants Senior Cup semi-final tie at Fleet Town.
