Wayne Shaw was back at Eastleigh last night - a week after resigning over Piegate.

The former Sutton United reserve goalkeeper appeared to be in good spirits last night as the Spitfires drew 1-1 at home to Aldershot Town in the National League.

He became a global sensation for eating a pie during his side's televised FA Cup defeat against Arsenal last Monday night.

Less than 48 hours later, the club asked him to resign as the Gambling Commission and Football Association investigated whether the stunt was for a bet.

The Roly-Poly Goalie had been 8/1 with Sun Bets to eat a pie during the game and did so once all of Sutton's subs had been used.

Sutton manager Paul Doswell, Shaw's friend for 30-plus years, said it was a board decision and that the 46 year-old had put himself in an "invidious" position.

In an interview with the Sports Pink before the Arsenal game, the dad-of-two from Totton said his 18-month role as Sutton's community liaison officer had helped him in his battle with depression.

But he seemed pleased to be back at the club he helped win promotion to Conference South back in 2005.
