Hampshire overseas signing George Bailey will miss the start of the season - to get married.

The Australian, who had a brief spell with Hampshire in 2013, re-signed on a two-year deal in November.

He will miss Hampshire’s first three Specsavers County Championship matches, against Yorkshire at Headingley (April 7-10) and the Ageas Bowl (April 21-24) either side of a visit from champions Middlesex (April 14-17).

Bailey will also be unavailable for the Royal London One-Day Cup opener against Kent at Canterbury on April 27.

The first game of his second Hampshire spell will be the RLODC match against Essex at Chelmsford on April 30 or Middlesex's visit on May 3.

But the 34 year-old should be available in all three formats for the rest of the season.

He will arrive in top form after scoring 839 first-class runs at 59.9 for Tasmania in 2016/17 to earn a place in Cricket Australia’s Sheffield Shield team of the season for the second year in a row.
