RICHIE Coxall – the man who led Fawley AFC to promotion from Wessex One in 2009/10 – will be looking to pull off the same trick again.

With this season’s management team of Aaron Fry and Darren Sayer wanting to take more of a back seat, Coxall is stepping back in to run the side as general/first-team manager.

And unless there is a reprieve from relegation up for grabs, the Oilers will be lining up in the Sydenhams League’s second tier next term having finished third-to-bottom of the Premier Division.

Coxall was born in Hythe and has been involved with Fawley since the age of 11, serving them as player, committee member and team boss.

“Richie was our manager seven seasons ago when we got promotion and it looks like he’s got that task ahead of him again,” said Fawley chairman Kevin Mitchell.

"Richie actually came back onto the management side this season to help out and take control, but we kept it low-key.

"He's always stayed involved in the club in one capacity or another and he'll be manager from the start of the new season."

Coxall will be assisted at the Oilers helm by club secretary Scott Johnston, previously joint boss at Hythe & Dibden, and current second-team manager Lee Shepherd.
