AFC TOTTON sit proudly aloft the fledgling Evo-Stik South West table after banking a maximum six points from their first two games.

Louis Langdown’s super Stags made tonight's trip to Bishop’s Cleeve well worthwhile by returning home as handsome 3-1 winners.

They grabbed a 14th-minute lead when Craig Feeney smashed home after Nathaniel Sherborne had hooked Curtis Young’s deep cross back across goal.

Cleeve’s Jacob Sloggett pegged them back to 1-1 on 53 minutes, but parity didn’t last long.

Four minutes later, from Toby Adekunle’s peach of a cross, defender Stuart Mott headed home his second goal in as many games.

Pretty soon the Stags bagged a third with Sherborne showing great anticipation to seize on a missed clearance from Feeney’s low cross.

Five minutes later Feeney headed another glorious chance wide and, when Cleeve threatened to score a second, Mott denied them with a terrific tackle.

There was disappointment for Winchester City, beaten 1-0 at home by Kidlington.

City went desperately close on several occasions after the break but, try as they might, they couldn’t undo the damage of Lewis Coyle’s 24th-minute winner.

Lamenting City's bad luck, director of football Dave Malone said: "The second period was one-way traffic, with one shot hitting the bar and two cleared off the line - we were by a long way the better side.

"That said, we just could not put the ball in the net - and as always, goals win matches!"

Salisbury slugged out a rollercoaster 2-2 draw with Paulton Rovers at the Ray Mac.

From leading 1-0 through a Kane O’Keefe header, the Whites slipped behind to goals from Joe Hillard and Kailan Gould.

Tom Whelan levelled matters on 67 minutes but, despite bringing himself off the bench late on, 51-year-old Salisbury boss Steve Claridge had to content himself with a point.

With weekend leaders Horndean held 0-0 at Sholing, Hamworthy United – 3-0 conquerors of Bemerton Heath Harlequins – have gone top on goal difference from the Deans and Baffins Milton Rovers.

Overnight table-toppers Andover Town are fourth with a game in hand.

Sholing had the pick of the openings in a hard-fought game at the Universal Stadium but couldn’t force a winner despite chances for Dan Mason, Bradey Norton and Connor Kelly.

Ryan Gosney, the Boatmen’s keeper, pulled off two good saves to deny the Deans.

Sadly for the Portsmouth visitors, they had Connor Duffin taken to hospital with a suspected fractured leg following a 50-50 challenge.

Ex-Saint Jamie White scored a quickfire hat-trick late in the first half to set Blackfield & Langley on their way to a 4-0 win at Bournemouth Poppies. Sam Griffin sank the Watersiders’ fourth.

Hamble Club were the night’s big winners with a 7-0 away slaying of Petersfield Town.

Nathan Lynch hit four, backed by one apiece from Sam Wilson, Brad Magookin and Nick Watts.

The New Forest derby at Bashley ended 1-0 in Brockenhurst's favour - Mitch Speechley-Price bagging the 48th-minute winner in front of a 260 crowd.

Bashley's Dan Munday ended up in hospital with a suspected broken collarbone.
