Hedge End’s Steve Perren secured the Bishop’s Waltham & District League singles title with victory over Park Gate RBL’s Roger Jeans at the finals’ night.

Perren, playing for Hedge End Club, was also successful in the pairs with partner Loz Dowding - they beat Alan Shawyer and Andy Reynolds of Black Dog in the final.

Dale Grove and Tracie Martin of Spike Islander won the mixed pairs with victory over Barleycorn duo Alan and Lynne Lewington.

Hedge End were officially named Division 1 winners during the evening with Division 2 going to Bishop’s Waltham SC B, Division 3 to Park Gate RBL B and Divsion 4 to Spike Islander.

Forty-four players hit out-shots of over 100 during the short summer season, with Perren nailing a 170.

John Banks’ 13-dart leg for Hedge End was the shortest – 31 players produced legs of 18 throws or less. Players also produced 80 maximums between them.

Freemantle, Shirley & District League: Cup and league action produced several ton-plus finishes and a couple of short legs.

Graeme Wellstood topped the out-shots with a 146 for Swaythling Club B, Colin Philpott finished on 136 for Brass Monkey and there was a 106 check-out for Gardeners’ George Manning.

James Mattyear threw a 13-dart leg for Swaythling B and Sid Woolgar a 14-darter for Prince of Wales B.

Fareham & District Super League: Southampton-based Ron Atwill set the standard on the opening night of the new season.

Atwill, playing for Fareham, hit a 28.63 average and the night’s best finish – a 155.

The shortest leg came from teammate Gary Stafford who threw a 13-darter.

Totton Challenge League: Saxon player Claire Hine was in good form in the second week of league action.

She nailed a 118 finish to win her singles game as her side lost 9-1 to Peg & Parrot A. Hine also hit a maximum in a pairs match.

The best finish was Mike Green’s 128 for Elephant B. Sam Dempster finished on 103 for Normans and Richie Pearce, of Peg A threw a 12-dart leg.

Portswood, Shirley & District Mixed League: Kings Arms’ duo Arron Gregory & Danny Ainworth won the men’s pairs with a 3-2 victory over The Saints’ players Micky Noyce and Kev Woodward in the final.

The Saints did pick up the ladies’ title when Sabrina Baker and Debbie Sefer defeated Tracy Martin and Debbie Witts of Old Waggoners.
