BLACKFIELD & Langley’s Southampton Senior Cup win over Hedge End Town had a cruel sting in the tail.

The Watersiders were 9-0 up and cruising against their Southampton Senior One guests when Kane Daysh suffered a serious leg injury late in the game.

The club have since confirmed that the midfielder/defender suffered a break of the tibia.

It’s a hammer blow for the Watersiders who are due to visit Frimley Green in the FA Vase on Saturday and currently top the Sydenhams Premier Division on goal difference from Andover Town.

Daysh has made 15 appearances for the Gang Warily boys this season, weighing in with eight goals.

Saturday's first round Vase opponents Frimley Green sit mid-table in the Combined Counties Division One.

Included in their squad is forward/winger George Bowerman, who played 19 games for Blackfield during their 2012/13 Wessex title-winning season while dual-signed from Aldershot Town.

Sholing, the 2014 FA Vase winners, are also on their travels to Highworth Town who have reeled off 13 straight victories to top the Hellenic Premier Division.

*HAMBLE Club - away to Romsey Town in the FA Vase first round on Saturday - bowed out of the Russell Cotes Cup 3-2 at Christchurch on Wednesday.

The Monks trailed to goals by Chris Senior and Jack Satterley before having a penalty saved by Priory 'keeper Jason Collins.

Danny Cox pulled one back before Satterley struck again, rendering Ricky Bull's 88th-minute goal a mere consolation for Hamble.

Romsey had also exited the RCC on Tuesday, agonisingly beaten 6-5 on penalties at AFC Stoneham after a 1-1 draw.

*Geoff Dunn notched twice and Scott Gilham once in Alresford Town's 3-1 Southampton Senior Cup win over Fawley AFC. Kieran Roche hit back for the Oilers.
