SALISBURY’S injury woes stubbornly refuse to budge.

The Whites suffered a double setback in Saturday’s 0-0 Evo-Stik South West stalemate again Evesham United with playmakers Chris Shephard and Lewis Benson both forced from the field of play.

Former Weymouth midfielder Shephard was stretchered off after 37 minutes with the recurrence of a hamstring injury and Benson’s game ended shortly after half-time due to a dead leg.

Salisbury skipper Kane O’Keefe came closest to breaking the first-half deadlock when he back-heeled an effort onto the post and, in the 72nd minute, ex-Winchester midfielder Stuart Green had the ball in the net but was flagged offside.

The Whites had the better opportunities but could find no way past the Robins’ former Salisbury City goalkeeper Kevin Sawyer.

The result keeps Steve Claridge’s men third ahead of Friday’s (October 27, 7.45pm) league trip to fifth-placed Winchester City.

Salisbury, meanwhile, have issued an apology to Evesham United and their female physiotherapist for what they described as “some distressing and offensive sexist verbal abuse” by a small section of Whites supporters.

An SFC statement said: “We wish to make it clear that we are appalled by such comments and behaviour and will take strong action against perpetrators, including banning them from Salisbury FC, should we be made aware of any such abuse and the persons who committed it, and the case be proved."

*AFC TOTTON'S scheduled home game against Bideford on Saturday was postponed.

The Evo-Stik South West fixture fell foul of a waterlogged pitch at The Total Branding Community Stadium.

Louis Langdown’s tenth-placed side are due to return to action on Tuesday (7.45pm) away to seventh-placed Swindon Supermarine.

Thursday's FA Youth Cup third qualifying round tie between AFC Totton under-18s and Ash United was also rained off.

That game will now take place this coming Thursday (October 26) with the winners due to entertain Cheltenham Town in the first round proper.

Sholing’s under-18s have been drawn at home to Clevedon Town in the FA Youth Cup first round (Thursday, November 2, 8pm), while Eastleigh face a trip to Plymouth Argyle (date to be confirmed).
