ALRESFORD Town have announced the signings of Alex Dockree and Connor Whiteley for the upcoming Sydenhams Premier Division campaign.

Whiteley spent the whole of 2017/18 at Bashley and scored 22 goals for the New Forest club, including some wonderful free kicks.

Alresford believe the young forward has huge potential and will only get better.

Magpies’ manager Richard Luffman said: “Connor scored a lot of goals last season and we feel he can get more than that with us. A proper player, who has great feet.”

Also new in is classy midfielder Dockree from Sydenhams Premier runners-up Andover Town.

Dockree was voted Andover’s supporters’ and manager’s player-of-the-year for 2017/18 and was a major reason they finished as high as they did.

“What a signing for the football club, a hard-working, physical, ball-playing midfielder,” smiled Luffman.

“I’ve been a long-term admirer of his and can’t wait to have him on my side now as he always played well against us.”

On the debit side, the Magpies have lost the services of last term’s players’ player-of-the-year, Craig Harding, who has made the tough decision to hang up his boots due to a persistent back problem.

Harding is moving on to join the backroom staff at Winchester Castle.
