GARY Hunt returned to form with his first podium of the season in the Red Bull Cliff Diving Series in Azores, Portugal.

Hunt, from Eastleigh, propelled himself back into the top three with his signature ‘triple quad’, after he had to deal with a mental block in his twisting dives at the start of this season.

The 34 year-old, who won six Red Bull titles from 2010-16 and the 2015 world championship, finished second last year and is eighth in the current standings with Southampton-based Blake Aldridge, who was 12th in Azores, sixth.

Cheered on by 1,000 spectators on boats and kayaks, Hunt finished behind American duo Steven LoBue, the series leader after three of the seven stops, and David Colturi.

The fourth of the seven stops is in Switzerland on August 5.
