MIDFIELDER Micky Hubbard has joined Poole Town's coaching staff.

Hubbard, who helped Andover Town to Sydenhams Premier runners-up spot last term, will assist manager Tom Killick and his right-hand man Taffy Richardson at Tatnam.

A former AFC Bournemouth youngster, Hubbard was part of the Dolphins' Wessex League glory days under Killick and went on to play for the likes of Sholing and Winchester City.

“It has never been a secret that I like to try to have people at the club who do have an affinity with it and Micky comes into that category," said Killick.

"Taffy is a good person for him to work with - they know each other and get on well.

“We feel it is something which can be beneficial to Micky and the club. He is someone I have a lot of time for and I am very happy to give him an opportunity.”

Although Hubbard has signed Southern League registration forms, Killick insisted Hubbard’s role with the Dolphins would be primarily behind the scenes.

“There may be circumstances where he does become involved but we have to mindful of the fact we have a lot of young players at the club and we don’t want to obstruct their opportunities," Killick explained.

The Dolphins have also recruited winger Sam Griffin from Blackfield & Langley to go alongside new signing Franklyn Clarke, also from the Watersiders.

Poole, relegated from the National League South, kick off their Evo-Stik South Premier South campaign at home to Hartley Wintney on Saturday, August 11.

Newly-promoted Salisbury travel to Beaconsfield Town, Gosport Borough host Kings Langley and Wimborne Town head for Farnborough.
