KELLY Simm knows what it takes to win gold in Glasgow and the in-form gymnast is confident of adding to her medal haul at the European Gymnastic Championship.

The 23-year-old took a Commonwealth gold in the women’s team event SSE Hydroin 2014 before winning bronze in the same arena a year later.

She showed her superb Glasgow form once more in helping Great Britain qualify for the women’s team final as well as advancing to the individual uneven bars final.

The 2018 British All Round champion, who is from Fareham, revels in a home environment and believes performing in Glasgow has brought out the best in her.

She said: “It’s an amazing achievement to get to the team final and that was our aim. It’s great to compete in this amazing arena and have the home crowd cheering you on is something special.

“We’re so ready for Saturday now. We’ve got some amazing memories as a team coming to this special arena, from the Commonwealth Games and then the World Championships so it felt great to be in familiar surroundings.”

Simm, who was performing alongside Lucy Stanhope, Georgia-Mae Fenton and Alice Kinsella, is desperate to stand on the podium once again.

She has every faith that the team can make it happen today.

“It’s a really good team dynamic,” she said.

“We all get on so well. The girls are really close from junior competitions so every just gels together really quickly and it’s great.

“I try and keep a level head for any competition I do. You want to try and hit your routines. We’ll wind down a little bit before ramping back up again ahead of the final.

“I think competing with the team is fantastic. It’s a great atmosphere and the crowd help so much. The team bond is really good.”
