STRIKER Scott Joyce was both hero and villain as Christchurch enjoyed a glorious return to the Sydenhams Premier top flight at Horndean.

Joyce netted twice as Priory ran out 2-0 winners at Five Heads Park but, just a minute after scoring the 69th-minute second, he was sent off for a second bookable offence.

That evened up the numbers with Horndean having lost Jack Maloney to a straight red card for a hefty 32nd-minute tackle on Will Robinson.

Horndean tomorrow host Hamble Club whose manager Ben Kneller has tipped the Deans for the title.

TADLEY Calleva, promoted in third place behind Division One champions Christchurch, also began on a winning note, overcoming Fareham Town 3-1 at Barlows Park.

Fareham had got off to a dream start with Callum Laycock heading them in front after just 54 seconds.

But, having missed chances to bolster that lead, the Creeksiders were punished in the second half as Sam Hamilton, sub Brett Denham and Simeon Howell banked Tadley the points.

Fareham host Cowes Sports tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.30pm), while Tadley welcome Bemerton HH to Barlows Park.

AFC PORTCHESTER will be looking to make it six points out of six at home to Baffins tomorrow following Saturday's 5-2 win over Team Solent.

Rob Evans, Dale Mason, Mike Turvey, George Hallahan and Jamie Ford netted the Royals' goals.

Baffins' weekend trip to Shaftesbury ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

HARRY McGrath struck twice as Andover New Street were given a tough baptism in the Sydenhams Premier Division.

The north Hampshire newcomers were beaten 2-0 on a baking hot day at Bashley.

With key striker Dan Munday missing, Bash deployed McGrath in a central role alongside new signing Nasim Meddah, whose pace and movement proved a constant threat.

The Foresters opened the scoring when McGrath narrowly beat the offside trap before rounding on-rushing keeper Dave Tasker and slotting home.

Meddah almost did likewise, but this time Tasker came out on top in the one-on-one duel.

With just minutes of the second half gone, Bashley extended their lead.

A cross from the left was headed high across the goalline by Sam Jackson and met by Lewis Aimson, whose header brushed the underside of the bar. McGrath completed the trio of headers, rising to nod the ball over the line.

Bashley tomorrow (Tuesday) visit Hamworthy United, who are licking their wounds after a 3-0 defeat at Cowes Sports.

The Hammers, under the new management of former Poole Town assistant boss Callum Brooks, fell to goals from John McKie and Ji Nash (2).

Bashley's New Forest neighbours Brockenhurst were held 1-1 at home by Bournemouth Poppies.

Micky Finch gave the visitors a first-half lead which was cancelled out by Matt Casey on 65 minutes.

Poppies keeper Sam Jones pulled off several superb stops to keep Brock at bay and Finch could have won it at the death.

Bournemouth entertain Portland United tomorrow (Tuesday).
