Winchester 1st XI 6 -1 Alton 1st XI

Winchester maintained their 100 per cent record with a comfortably victory against a competitive Alton team.

The visitors started strongly, putting Winchester under pressure, relying on an early Adam Major saving tackle with dealt with two-on-one danger.

Winchester gradually recovered their composure with skipper Mark Maunsell starting to pull the strings in midfield. Fifteen minutes-in and the home team took advantage of their domination as Charlie Harrigan diverted Kieran Malloy's strike past the keeper.

Winchester took a two-nil lead into half time when an Alton defender's foot stopped the ball crossing the line and Ben Hibberd converted the resultant penalty flick.

The home team started the second period in equally dominant mood, and with radar working properly with shots on goal, they could have easily extended their lead. However, Alton hit back with a counter-attack with ex-Winchester player Josh Davidson driving down the right channel and pulling back for Will Pack to put past Callum Johnstone for 2-1.

Winchester nerves may have jangled, but only for a minute as Hibberd found Malloy unmarked in the "D" and he slotted home for 3-1. Within seconds it was 4-1 as Harrigan reverse flicked the ball into the net following a goalmouth melee.

Five minutes later and Hibberd crashed-in a reverse strike from the edge of the "D". Yet another goalmouth scramble gave Winchester their sixth and final goal when Harrigan squirted the ball towards Stuart Swift who volleyed the ball, chest-height into an open goal.
