Goalkeeper Joe McDonnell pulled off a string of inspirational first half saves before Solomon Nwabuokei headed a priceless winner for Eastleigh over National League relegation rivals Woking at Kingsmead.

He flung himself left and right to pull off four superb saves in eight first half minutes to thwart Woking who were pulling all the strings.

Woking's pressure went unrewarded before Solomon Nwabuokei found space at the far post to head home a Chris Maguire corner.

Eastleigh's 28th minute winner took the wind out of Woking's sails, the nearest the Surrey side came to scoring after that was with a shot which grazed McDonnell's bar.

Eastleigh navigated the second half without undue alarm, although manager Kelvin Davis received a red card late on - he innocently kicked the ball back onto the pitch when it went out of play for a throw-in.

He will sit out an Easter Monday touchline ban against Maidenhead United.

The win lifted Eastleigh to 15th place, six points clear of Boreham Wood, who have stumbled into the bottom four.
