LIAM Dawson believes Hampshire can maintain their winning momentum in the LV County Championship , following the most dramatic week in the club’s season.

The Hampshire all-rounder is targeting another victory against Kent in a match which starts at The Ageas Bowl today, following incredible recent wins against Essex and Nottinghamshire.

Having helped Hampshire to a thrilling tworun win at Chelmsford in the Championship last Sunday, Dawson produced one of his most valuable innings for the county in Thursday night’s Friends Life t20 quarter-final win at Nottinghamshire.

His 18-ball 30 helped the Royals secure a place at Finals Day for a third successive season.

The 22 year-old will be a key player with ball as well as bat at the Swalec Stadium on August 25, having opened the bowling in the Royals’ last six games, adding the scalp of Alex Hales to that of Kevin Pietersen at Trent Bridge.

But Dawson is also determined to help Hampshire achieve an immediate return to the Championship’s first division.

“When you’re winning you want matches to come thick and fast and Kent is another massive game for us,” said Dawson, who hit an unbeaten 134 when Hampshire drew with Kent at Tunbridge Wells at the beginning of June.
