DOM PARSONS
Parsons, whose only World Cup podium came in 2013, thought he had blown his chance of a medal when he slipped behind Nikita Tregubov on his fourth and final run. But a subsequent mistake by Latvia’s Martins Dukurs rescued Parsons a top three berth.
IZZY ATKIN
Nineteen-year-old Atkin, who was born and raised in Park City but has a British father, made history by becoming the first Great Britain athlete to win a medal on skis when she took bronze in the women’s slopestyle.
LIZZY YARNOLD
Despite a World Cup season she would rather forget, and coming into the Olympics with a heavy cold, Yarnold rose to the occasion once again to obliterate her rivals and become the first British athlete to defend a Winter Olympics title.
LAURA DEAS
So often in Yarnold’s shadow despite a much more consistent World Cup season, Deas built on a series of eye-catching training runs to snatch a bronze medal on her final run when the previous leader, Austria’s Janine Flock, dropped out of the medals.
BILLY MORGAN
The 27-year-old snowboarder landed a risky Big Air trick on his final run to edge a surprise bronze medal in his second Olympics. “I just went out there to send it for the boys,” said a delighted and slightly stunned Morgan afterwards.
