OLD Tauntonians & Romsey A completed a Holt & Haskell Border League double last week as they defeated Bramshaw to clinch the league title and then hammered Paultons A in the cup final In the final round of league fixtures, Danny Mills led the assault on the Bramshaw bowlers with a cultured 49, including seven fours and a six.

Bramshaw started well in reply with a half-century stand before Jon Dowling stepped up, taking a season best 6-21.

Paultons A, who were in with an outside chance of the taking the league crown if OTs had slipped up, beat OTs and Romsey B by just one run.

In a low scoring match, Paultons toiled to reach 103 in their 18 overs with Charlie King and Barney Hayes being economical with their bowling.

Skipper Jody Brown top scored for the Romsey side with 26 and a late flurry by King and Peter Cox almost took them to a shock win.

The Division Two title was sown up by Cadnam. The team had re-entered the Border League this season after a short absence and will be playing in Division One next season.

They trounced OTs Academy by 81 runs, with Matt Hardy scoring a half-century,. Charlie Forward carried his bat for 40 not out but four wickets from Paul Jewer did the damage.

Redlynch and Hale secured the runner-up spot with Ian Tanner scoring 86 not out against Paultons B.

The Border League Cup final, which had been delayed by the weather, was also won by OTs and Romsey A, who defeated Paultons A at Calmore by 41 runs.

Gus Flack and Nick Destefano both hit half-centuries as they battered the Paultons bowlers to all parts.

Flack hit four sixes in his tally and Destefano three fours and three sixes.

Danny Mills followed this with a brisk 27 not out as OTs scored 169-3 in their 18 overs.

Paultons lost a wicket to Dan Mogg in the first over but Simon Ennew with 57 gave the innings momentum.

Tight bowling, especially by Steve Smith and man-of-the-match Danny Mills, kept the remaining batsmen at bay as they fell well short.
