Wellow pair take on the best of British

TWO pupils from Wellow Primary School have finished fifth among the best young gymnasts in Britain.
The mixed pair of Sarah Jarman from year five and William Ireland from year three were in impressive for in the under-11 sports acro championships at Fenton Manor, Stoke on Trent.
They had qualified by winning the Southern Region championships at Romsey's Mountbatten School in February and at Stoke they came up against 11 other regional championship-winning pairs.
"They worked incredibly hard and it was a wonderful achievement to finish fifth against such strong competition, particularly bearing in mind that William is only eight years old," said Carrie Batchelor, who coached them, along with the school's PE co-ordinator, Natalie Rawlings.
The performance of the pair capped a good year for Wellow's gymnasts.
The school's team of six had taken a bronze medal in the regional competition, with young Ireland second in the tumbling.
