Prince Harry has arrived back in the UK after his tour of duty in Afghanistan.

Speaking at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, the 28-year-old Apache co-pilot gunner said it was "great to be back".

He said his comrades were longing to go and see their families and loved ones, adding that he was as well.

The prince has been on post-deployment "decompression" at a British military base in Cyprus since leaving war-torn Helmand Province on Monday evening.

He landed at Brize Norton on a regular personnel flight and is expected to travel with his unit, 662 Squadron, 3 Regiment Army Air Corps, to their Suffolk headquarters.

During his deployment the prince revealed to the media that he took Taliban fighters "out of the game" from the cockpit of Apache attack helicopters and admitted he "let himself down" by romping naked in Las Vegas just weeks before his departure for Afghanistan.

Asked about the Taliban comments, he replied: "You get asked to do things that you would expect to do wearing this uniform. That's as simple as that, really."
