A woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a cyclist died following a collision with her car.

At 4.04am today Kent Police were called to reports of an accident involving a cyclist and a blue Peugeot 206 on the A2990 Old Thanet Way near Chestfield, Whitstable.

A Kent Police spokeswoman said: "The cyclist, a man in his 30s from the Ashford area, was declared dead at the scene.

"The female driver of the Peugeot has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody."

"Anybody who witnessed the collision or who saw the cyclist prior to the incident is asked to call Pc David Jeeves of the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538."
