THE University of Winchester has climbed six places in a recent university ranking guide.
This year’s Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey saw the university rise from 28th to 22nd.
The Student Experience Survey is now in its eighth year and gathered data from 12,000 undergraduate students between October 2011 and July 2012.
Students are asked to rate 21 aspects of university life on a seven-point scale, with attributes ranging from quality of teaching staff and courses, to facilities, accommodation and social life.
Winchester scored highly for its campus and the helpfulness of staff, as well as library facilities and opening hours.P
rofessor Joy Carter, the university’s vice-chancellor, said: “We pride ourselves on delivering innovative teaching whilst fostering a supportive and friendly community on our campus. I am thrilled that we have been recognised and endorsed by our own students in this important survey.”
Seven post-1992 universities were in the top 40, with Winchester second out of those.
The news follows the recently published Complete University Guide, in which Winchester rose seven places to 69th.
