A MAN has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a lorry in Lyndhurst.
The A337 wasy shut between the A35 High Street and Mill Lane following the incident, which happened at about 7am.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: "The collision involved a pedestrian and a lorry.
"The road has been closed for emergency services to deal with the incident.
"The pedestrian, a man in his 70s, has been taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment to serious injuries."
A South Central Ambulance Service statement says: "Ambulance services were called to the scene at 7.57am.
"An ambulance crew and a rapid response vehicle were at the scene.
"A 70-year-old man sustained potentially serious injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital."
The road has now reopened.
