GUESTS at a special fundraising dinner at a Test Valley Museum were treated to an experience that was out of this world.

The event, which took place at the Museum of Army Flying, featured the British astronaut Tim Peake as its guest of honour.

Tim, a former Army Air Corps pilot, was returning to the site of his training, which took place at the Museum’s neighbouring AAC airfield in Middle Wallop.

Attendees from far and wide flocked to the Museum to enjoy a three-course meal and hear Tim’s space related anecdotes.

During his talk he regaled the audience with a fascinating insight into day to day life while orbiting the earth at over 17,000 miles per hour and the problems surrounding simple tasks at zero gravity such as sleeping and eating.

He also took time to chat to guests, many of whom had been his AAC colleagues, and sign copies of his book.

While Tim is a qualified test pilot, he was flown in by pilot John Davies.

Chris Munns, Museum Chief Executive Officer, said: “This was a great evening much enjoyed by all. “Tim was an excellent speaker and his account of his six months in the International Space Station were fascinating.

“Over 220 joined us for a splendid dinner and memorable evening.”
