THREE thousand pounds has been raised after a street collection in Romsey in aid of Parkinson's UK.
Forty collectors from Rotary Club of Romsey Test, working in shifts, were on the streets of the market town over the weekend.
The buckets collected a total of £1,600, but with gift aid, will be worth an extra £400.
The rotary club had also pledged to match any funds collected up to £1,000, meaning a total of £3,000 will be passed on to the charity.
The club said: "Many people were moved to give generously because they knew a friend of family member who suffers from Parkinson's, which is a disease that is sadly still incurable. So thank you to Romsey."
On July 1, the group will be running the Romsey Mayor's picnic and duck race in the War Memorial Park.
