POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was seriously injured in a crash.

Emergency service rushed to the A3057 shortly after 7am on October 11 after reports of an incident involving a black Suzuki motorcycle and a Vauxhall Corsa.

The female motorcyclist was seriously injured in the collision which took place at the Kimbridge junction.

Emergency services, including the Hampshire and Isle of Wight critical care car and two Hazardous Area Response Team units, were called to the scene.

The Air Ambulance was also called to the scene but the female motorcyclist was taken by ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service said: “We received an emergency 999 call at 07.22am with the caller reporting a collision between a motorcyclist and a car outside The Bear and Ragged Staff on the A3057.
“The female motorcyclist had sustained life-threatening injuries and after initial treatment at the scene was taken by road to the major trauma centre at University Hospital Southampton.”

The male driver of the car was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

One person who drove past the scene on Thursday morning said: “I’ve never seen so many emergency service personnel before. There was a lot of people round a person on the floor. I hope they are okay.”

Now Hampshire Police is asking witnesses to come forward.

In a statement the force said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision between a car and a motorcycle on the A3057 Romsey Road in Stonymarsh. If you witnessed this incident, please call 101 quoting reference 44180382726.”

As a result of the crash, officers closed the road in both directions, with a member of Romsey Town Council’s roads team directing drivers struggling to get around.

HGVs were advised to stay on the A3090 or take the A30 to get to Winchester or Stockbridge.

The road was closed in both directions for a number of hours while investigation and recovery works were carried out.
