THE hunt is still on after a man was stabbed in a Southampton street.

Hampshire Constabulary told the Daily Echo that it was still conducting an investigation into a vicious knife attack that took place at Barnfield Close in Southampton on Monday evening.

A 22 year-old man was assaulted by a group of young men at about 9pm.

This comes after residents told of their shock the morning after the attack.

One said that it had left her living in fear in her own home.

Diane Lawson, 36, said: “I’m trying to bring up my son on my own and I don’t want him to be influenced by this sort of violence.”

Another resident said her friend saw the 22-year-old being “battered” with a bat.

Two residents also said that they heard screaming and shouting outside before the incident took place.

A mother-of-two from the area said: “There are always young groups of kids down here, but there’s never really any crime.

“I especially don’t like that this has happened because of my children.

“I need to feel safe in my own home.”

“It makes me feel unsafe to live here.”

Police told the Echo the victim’s injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

Daily Echo:

A spokesman said: “It is believed the incident occurred
near a parked white or grey Fiesta.”
