THE winners of this year’s Romsey and District Beekeepers Honey Show have been announced.

The popular event took place at Broadlands the evening before the Romsey Show and the association’s prize-giving followed on October 17 at King John’s House.

The Honey Show is organised every year by volunteers and residents are encouraged to bring their honey, beeswax, mead and honey-bakes.

Organisers said they had 151 “excellent and varied entries” this year. Here are the trophy winners for 2018:

- Nick Hutson, The Cleal Prize - 1st, Best 3 exhibits in class 20;

-Christine Coulsting, The Cleal Prize - 2nd, Best 3 exhibits in class 20;

- Evie Smith, The Cleal Prize - 3rd , Best 3 exhibits in class 20;

- Kathy Hurst, The Mary Britton Trophy, Highest points for cake class;

- Geraldine Eldridge, The Geoffrey Osborne Trophy Highest points for classes 16,17,18,19 (cake, biscuits, preserves, sweets);

- Jan Mullarney, Richard Stone Cup, highest points in Class 31 (novice);

- Christine Coulsting, RDBKA Challenge Cup, Highest total for all classes;

- Tracey Hood, The Millennium Bowl, highest total for classes 1 to 10, 21,22,31 (honeys);

- Peter Eldridge, The Chapman Cup, highest total for classes 11,12,13,14 (wax);

- John Goss, The Peter Howard Cup, highest total for classes 7,8,9,10 – tied (comb honeys);

- Jan Roper, The Peter Howard Cup, highest total for classes 7,8,9,10 – tied (comb honeys);

- John Goss, The Peter Webster Trophy, a bottle of Mead;

-John Stone, The Lalonde Trophy, member with four colonies or less having highest total for all classes;

-John Goss, The President’s Trophy and BBKA blue ribbon , the best exhibit from classes 1 - 15, 21, 22 or 31 (honeys and wax).
