OVER five days a team of friends who work for British Gas Smart Metering and Installations, led by Richard Bailey, walked the South Down Way in aid of Romsey Cancer Support Centre, Jane Scarth House.
It comes after Richard’s sister Laura, 35, was diagnosed with metastatic bowel cancer in 2012 and died in July.
Richard and eight colleagues, backed by ten supporters, endured terrible weather conditions to walk the 102 miles in memory of Laura, raising nearly £11,300.
The funds will go to Jane Scarth House where Richard’s family have been receiving support over the past six years. Romsey Cancer Support Centre is an independent charity which offers free services to anyone living within reach of Romsey who is dealing with a cancer diagnosis whether it is the patient or a member of their family.
