A HAMPSHIRE service station has been named one of the UK's most relaxing A-road service areas.

A new study has revealed Sutton Scotney Services, located on the A34, is one of the region's highest rated road stops.

That's according to new research conducted by independent transport watchdog Transport Focus.

In the study, Sutton Scotney scored an overall satisfaction rate of 97 per cent, with 86 per cent of motorists leaving the site relaxed or happy – 48 percentage points higher than when they arrived.

The Sutton Scotney site, which is north of Winchester and South East of Andover, includes a Costa, McDonald’s and a WHSmith.

Mark Fox, CEO of Roadchef, said: “We’re delighted that Sutton Scotney has received such excellent feedback in the Transport Focus research.

"It is a testament to our team and the investment we have made at our sites that customers are leaving in a more relaxed and happy state than when they arrived, something which is key to improving road safety.

"Research like this highlights the key safety role our service areas play, because if you’re tired and stop during your journey, you will return to your vehicle happier, more relaxed and ultimately less likely to cause an accident.”
