A HAMPSHIRE company has received a major cash boost.

University of Southampton Science Park-based company Optomel has received £750 grant from Test Valley Borough Council.

The company owned by Dr Damian Gardiner, provides optical filter technology for innovators and designers.

He said: “The council’s grants available to new businesses are fantastic and give owners the opportunity to invest in developing their business further. I’d like to thank the council for their support.”

Dr Gardiner completed a master’s degree at Southampton University and a PhD in liquid crystal devices at Cambridge University

The council’s Business Incentive Grants are available to anyone looking to set up their own business in Test Valley. Chilworth councillor Alison Finlay said: “Test Valley Borough Council is delighted to support Dr Gardiner in his new venture. I wish him every success as he takes his business forward.”

Anyone who successfully applies for the grant will receive £750 if their business is still going strong six months later.
