A SERIES of activities and services will be held in Romsey over the next few days.

The popular Do-It-Yourself nativity will be run once again at the Abbey United Reformed Church on December 24 at 4.30pm.

Every child will be welcome to take part and to take the part they wish – not the part they are given.

Organisers said there can be seven Marys, five wise men and lots of animals and angels.

This year Janet K Davis, local children’s author, will tell the story.

All children are invited to dress-up in the costumes provided and be whoever they would like to be in the play.

Meanwhile, the Carols and Lessons by Candlelight will be held at the Abbey United Reformed Church on December 23 at 6.30pm while the service on Christmas Eve will start at 11.30pm.

An annual carol service will also be celebrated at St Swithun’s at Crampmoor on December 23 at 3pm.

On the same day, the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols will be held at Romsey Abbey at 6.30pm.

The Children’s Crib service, combines song, readings and the telling of the Christmas Story, will be held at the abbey on December 24 at 4pm while the midnight Mass will start at 11.30pm.

The Christmas morning’s Eucharist service at the abbey will be at 10am while on December 28, the abbey will hold a remembrance service for anyone affected by the loss of a baby, child or young person.
