HUNDREDS of people attended a Christmas concert at Romsey Abbey to support a good cause.

There were more than 400 people at the Honeypot Children’s Charity’s annual Christmas Carol concert on December 12.

The charity has been providing respite breaks and support to young carers aged between five and 12 years old for 22 years.

The Romsey Abbey Primary School Choir performed at the event held last week along with the Romsey & Salisbury Rock Choir.

Meanwhile, Penny Power OBE was the guest speaker and gave “a truly inspirational speech” on happiness and love.

Kate Browning, the regional fundraising manager for Honeypot, said: “The carol concert was such a wonderful evening and to see so many people in attendance to support Honeypot was truly fantastic. With the help and support from our volunteers, sponsors and attendees we managed to raise £5,500!

“This is enough to support 10 young carers for a whole year. Without the backing of our fantastic sponsors this simply wouldn’t have been possible and I would like to say a special thanks to The Beaulieu Beaufort Foundation, Fairweathers Garden Centre, Troy Accounting, Selwood Ltd and Minuteman Press.”
