SIR: Two matters beggar belief in your article about the old brewery site.

One is that an established developer with access to legal advice should make an appeal based on the wrong clause. Was it a delaying tactic?

The other is the cringing response of the planning portfolio holder who wants to work with the developer to shepherd the delayed appeal through a second lengthy process.

Surely a more robust response is called for when the town has been held to ransom for so many years.
