RESIDENTS are invited to have their say on plans for a new park-and-ride and health centre on the edge of Southampton.

Proposals for a permanent park-and-ride and a health campus at Adanac Park in Nursling will be on display on January 14, when a drop-in event will be held at Nursling and Rownhams Village Hall.

It is understood the park-and-ride will have 1,000 spaces and will be used by staff at University Hospital Southampton (UHS).

Daily Echo:

Meanwhile, the health campus facility will provide a group of buildings for use by UHS and other healthcare organisations for purposes such as clinical facilities, training centres or administrative spaces.

This comes after, earlier this year, approval was granted for a separate, temporary park-and-ride opposite the Adanac Park site as an interim measure until the development of the permanent facility.

As previously reported, the temporary facility will be exclusively for staff at UHS.

Currently, employees park at either the nearby B&Q or Sainsbury’s, where sections of the car parks have been allocated. A bus then picks them up.

Now the display, which to be held between 2.30pm and 7.30pm, will give residents the opportunity to see the plans for the permanent facilities and meet UHS representatives alongside its commercial estates development partner Prime plc and Stride Treglown, the architects responsible for the scheme.

Nael Clarke, commercial director at UHS, said: “The offsite parking scheme for UHS staff will help to ease congestion on and around the Southampton General and the Princess Anne hospital sites as well as neighbouring residential areas.

“Providing more convenient and accessible travel options for staff will not only improve access to our hospital sites but also reduce the parking burden on the local community.”

Another public consultation was held in September 2018.

“We were really pleased with the positive feedback received at our consultation event in September and look forward to having the opportunity to have further discussions with nearby residents about our vision,” Mr Clarke said.

Any feedback or comments given on the day will be used to further develop proposals before UHS seeks planning permission.

Those unable to attend the event but who would like more information about the proposed scheme can email adanacpark@primeplc.com for more information.
