TWO volunteers have been presented with awards for their dedication to the Romsey Macular Support Group.

Christine Wilkins and June Carpenter received certificates from the Macular Society’s regional manager Tom McInulty as a thank-you for their efforts.

Christine and June have been helping out at the group since 2014.

Romsey Macular Support Group meets in Love Lane on the first Friday of each month from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

It is one of more than 400 groups of its kind in the UK, offering information, encouragement and friendship to people who are affected by macular disease, which is considered to be the biggest cause of blindness in the UK.

Mr McInulty said: “We continue to provide a wide range of support services to people with macular disease who need our help. But we can’t do that without the commitment of volunteers like Christine and June. They make a huge difference to the lives of people living locally who are affected by macular disease."
