RESIDENTS are facing power cuts after a bright flash was reportedly seen in the sky over Hampshire.

Scottish and Southern Electric (SSE) has apologised to residents in North Baddesley and Romsey following the incident, which happened at about 6.40am today.

People living in the area took to social media and one Facebook user said: "No power in Hunters Crescent after a horrible noise and bright flash about 6.50am."

Another resident wrote on Twitter: "Saw a massive bright flash green light in the sky driving into Romsey.

"Apparently the same time the power went off."

An SSE statement says: "We’re sorry for the loss of supply. We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed.

"Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can. If you need more information, please call us on 105 or send us a message on Facebook or Twitter."
